Touch function sometimes lacking

Hello everyone,

It often happens that one of my touch screens stops responding to touch. I then have to restart the computer, sometimes several times (three or four times) to get everything back to normal. Has anyone noticed the same phenomenon? Do you have an explanation? Thanks in advance.

Very infrequently, I have had a similar problem with one of the touch screens. I find it starts to work again if I unplug the usb cable from the screen wait a few seconds, then reconnect it. I don’t need to restart HW or reboot the system. I believe it to be usb and windows related.

I don’t use a usb hub but have a usb card with seven connections in the PC - this has an addition power connector internally to ensure that there is sufficient power to run all the USB ports. Before I had this, and used a good, powered hub, but I had this problem more frequently.

Same here, but I recently realised that if I leave the second screen off during boot up and then turn it on later all is fine. If it stops working for whatever reason, turning the offending screen off and on again seems to fix it.

Thank you very much for your personal experiences. Next time I'll just try unplugging or switching off and hope that's enough.

I used to have this with one of my screens. The solution was the same. I therefore bought a new USB be lead and but a switch in the power lines. It worked until the screen gave up the ghost and was replaced. Note, it is only the two power conductors that need to be switched

Unfortunately, the tricks that work for you fail for me. Turning the screen off and on again, disconnecting and reconnecting the USB don't solve anything. I have to restart the computer up to 10 times to restore the touch function. A mystery...

From a technical point of view, a touchscreen problem is always interesting but annoying when you have it. Because there are different mechanical working types of this type monitors. Hence, your basic info is not enough for me to form a partial judgment, and I need more data, such as;
Which Windows version are you using (not directly relevant).
What is the make and model number or type number of your monitor and how old
Has it ever worked well, if so, under what conditions, so what was different from today
Have you ever tried it on another PC/laptop?
Wonder your comments.

Hello,
Thank you for this diagnostic attempt.
My PC is running Windows 10 Pro.
My screen is an IIYAMA T2452MTS, more than five years old.
I don't have the possibility to test it on another PC, my main computer being an iMac.
Regards.

Sorry Ludu You haven't answered the most important question. n.l. whether it has ever worked well, if so, what has been changed with today , and if it has not worked well, then you have claimed warranty? And when did started these problems in respect of the last 5 years.
Very important, Did you have gone through the OSD menu of monitor and there all settings have been carefully viewed or tried out possibly changes. (trial-error).
Have you already tested with a separate touch pen instead of your finger?, and if it works, how is the touchpoint accuracy in that vicinity.
Have you ever checked in Device Manager which USB port is used by the USB cable of the monitor, and have you also taken a separate-single PC - USB port to test out.
Have you tried a new USB cable, or test the particular cable on your printer for instance?
Do you have a neighbor or acquaintance in the neighborhood or at work, where you can try out the monitor on another PC / Laptop.
When you are using the system and the monitor does not touch, you could try also try to pull the USB plug out of the monitor and push it back in, and see how reactions are or what happens, basically at least you should hear a Windows warning sound, instead starting Windows renewed.
ALL this troubleshooting has to be done first to my opinion, before there is a better conclusion possible, sorry for all the hustle.
Stay in touch with your info please.
Best of luck, Hubertus

Hello hgeurten,
Starting next week, I'll have time to look into this further, and I'll get back to you with better answers. Thank you for your perseverance.
Kind regards.

Hello everyone,

For your information, the USB port was faulty. All you had to do was change the port and lock the one that stopped working. I hope that my experience can help those who are in the same situation as me.
