Installing organ on new hard-drive
If you hard drive is full
1. Check if there are any other files that are not related to Hauptwerk that you could store elsewhere, for example on an external drive or in the cloud (eg. Dropbox)
2. When you buy or download an organ, the files you download are only required when you install the organ in Hauptwerk. Once the organ has been installed, these files can be kept on an external drive and do not need to be on the internal hard drive. Keep them on the external drive so you can reinstall the organ if that becomes necessary in the future. On Windows systems these are often in the download folder. Deleting files that are longer needed from the download folder can often give you a lot of space back.
3. If none of the above frees sufficient space, then read the part of the user manual about where files are stored in Hauptwerk (v8 manual pages 22, 23) and the section on changing installation locations (pg 32). You can then use the Hauptwerk installer to move one of the three Hauptwerk folders to you external drive (I suggest moving sample sets and components). Note once this completed you will need to ensure that the external drive is connected to the computer when you want to use Hauptwerk.

To add to Iain's reply (thanks very much as always, Iain), in v9 the section on changing installation locations is on page 9 of the advanced user guide ("Other | Help | View advanced user guide" from the touch menu).
Best regards, Martin.

Re: Installing organ on new hard-drive
In Hauptwerk v.9, where do I find "custom" install? I know where to find "instal" but I do not see "custom" instal. Any help will be appreciated. And, Happy New Year 2025!
Re: Installing organ on new hard-drive
It's not a custom install of an organ, it's running the Hauptwerk Installer program again -- the one you downloaded from hauptwerk.com for your Hauptwerk version and either Mac or Windows.
Select Custom when prompted, and pick your directories. The installer will move files. Please read the section reference Martin gave you in the Advanced User Guide first!
This is completely different from installing an organ. You're moving all your organs to another disk, including organs you install in the future.
There's no way to put some organs on one disk and others on a different one. But you can leave InternalWorkingFiles on the internal drive and move SamplesetsAndComponents to an external drive, for example. That's what I do.
