Touch menue

Post by münsterorganist »

HW 9: is there a setting, that touch menue does not appear after loading a sample, but only when you select it. There is a switch under view, but the switch is on again the next time you load it.
Thanks for answer.

It remembers the way you left it at exit. You can close the touch menu before exiting if that bothers you.

I think there's also a setting for whether the load organ control panels display at startup, and if you turned that off, the touch menu may default to on. But I haven't tested that. Will edit if wrong.

Ok, View / Show touch menu matches whether the touch menu is currently displayed. If you go to View, it will also be On because it's displayed. If you uncheck it, the touch menu disappears. I'm not sure why it would come back on its own later without doing something. But I can't load a new organ without bringing back the touch menu, since I don't display the load organ control panel.

Hello münsterorganist,

To confirm and add to Mark's reply (thanks very much as always, Mark), the touch menu simply stays in whatever state you put it (open or closed) -- there's no option for it automatically to be closed at some points in time and open at others. It will never open itself (except that if you exit Hauptwerk with it open, when you re-launch Hauptwerk it will still be open).

Note that if you have the touch menu set to appear in its own window (as opposed to docked in one of the console windows), and if you have it positioned on top of one of the console windows, then you might conceivably find that it ends up behind the console window (e.g. if you click on the console window to bring it to the foreground, thus pushing the touch menu's window behind it).
Best regards, Martin.

Hello münsterorganist,

P.S. Do you mean that you're hoping for a setting that causes the touch menu to open automatically whenever an organ isn't loaded and to close automatically whenever an organ is loaded?

Thank you for you answer quickly. I want only the sample screen to appear after starting HW and not the touch menu ,as in previous versions. The touch menu should only appear, when I select it. I can't find the switch, where I can set this.

Thanks, münsterorganist.

Do you mean that you want the touch menu to be open prior to loading an organ (e.g. to use it to select the organ to load), and for it then to close automatically as soon as the organ has loaded?

Just to be clarify, the touch menu doesn't open automatically -- it simply stays open if you opened it, and stays closed if you closed it.

Thank you Martin. No, sorry for the misunderstanding. When I load HW, the touch menu can already be seen beforde the sample is loaded.
The touch menu should only appear, when I want it and not be there automatically. ( Sorry, I use Google translate)

All you have to do, to keep the touch menu from appearing when you run Hauptwerk, is always close the touch menu before you exit Hauptwerk. The next time you run it, the touch menu should not appear automatically.

Thanks, münsterorganist.

In that case, does the following describe the situation?:

- You had opened the touch menu prior to exiting Hauptwerk (for example, so that you could use the function on it to exit Hauptwerk).

- As you next launch Hauptwerk the touch menu will then reopen automatically (because it was open when you exited Hauptwerk).

If so, do you mean that you would prefer that it never opens when you launch Hauptwerk (even if it was open when you exited Hauptwerk)? I.e. you would like the touch menu always to remain closed as Hauptwerk launches?

[Edit: P.S. Mark and I replied at the same time.]

Thanks, münsterorganist.

There's no way currently (v9.0.0) to prevent the touch menu from reopening as you launch Hauptwerk, except by making sure that you have closed it before you exit Hauptwerk.

Is it a problem for you to close it when you've finished with the touch menu (and before you exit), e.g. because you want to use the "Other | File | Exit" function on the touch menu in order to exit Hauptwerk? (If using that button for exiting you wouldn't also be able to close the touch menu before exiting.)

Thank you. I just tested your suggestions. It works as suggested when I changing samples and have before closed touch menu. So I learned something.
But when I end by " shut down computer" or " file, exit" and start Computern new, the touch menu appears again every time ,regardless of wheter I closed it beforehand. But I can live with that.
Thank you Martin and I wisch merry christmas and all the best for 2025. Thank for your work.

Thanks again, münsterorganist.

I'll note as an enhancement request that Hauptwerk could have a new View option for whether the touch menu's state is open/closed/ remembered when Hauptwerk launches.

Have a very good Christmas too.
