Not only does the problem "persist" - it seems to occur more frequently and for longer periods ...

I just tried to read this post and couldn’t because the system failed reporting ‘General error’.

It is really about time MDA got this fixed. As the forum is a key element in their support and sales this is most unsatisfactory.

This is the ONLY site where I've seen this behavior. And it occurs anytime, day or night. A real bummer.

This is not an 'error' per se, but simply how many connections to the server (25) the hosting company is being paid to allow. The host limits the number of active connections by this setting. It is simply a setting. Changing it to a larger value will cost more. For me, it is a minor inconvenience for the use of a free (to me) forum, but that is just my perspective (no offense intended).

25 is really few and I don't think upgrading to 100 would change the price.

It is not the database, it is the hosting company. Server capacity.

I have emailed Michelle at MDA about this problem. She replied yesterday, having looked into the matter, that their IT person is aware of the issue and something is being done to resolve the matter.

(The current problem is most likely due to the the BB software failing in some way which does not close down its connection to the database. Normally web applications such as the BB only briefly connect to the database whilst retrieving data to meet a user request, most of the time they are not connected to the database. The number of connections needed is the number of concurrent requests for data and not the number of concurrent BB users. You can usually triangulate the problem from the an instance of the problem, web server logs and the DB logs.)

....especially considering this forum is most people’s primary form of tech support.... I’ve seen a lot of people complain about this on the Facebook group pages as well.

Seems to be old school, but I remember learning that "Actions speak LOUDER than words". But again, that's old school.

It's not boring when you try to help answer someone's tech question, but rather an annoying waste of time. As well it reflects poorly on Hauptwerk whose only product is technology, when they can't even fix a known problem on their own Forum website that has existed for more than a year.
